Assisteens is a vibrant, thriving organization for high school students dedicated to volunteering in our community. Teen volunteers donate service hours through philanthropic programs adopted by each grade level and community programs.
Operation Hug and New Life Beginnings are programs conducted by Assisteens, a high school aged auxiliary, where 420 children and adults were helped. Operation Hug, in partnership with the Long Beach Fire Department, provides teddy bears to children in trauma. Assisteens brighten the residents of New Life Beginnings, a shelter for homeless mothers and their children, by hosting parties and providing monthly donations of essential items. Assisteens also conduct the Adopt-a-Family program, where selected families are supported at the holidays with food and gifts.
Assisteens are also active in the community supporting
other groups and events such as the Steel Magnolias gala, Breast Cancer
Walk fundraiser, and Assistance League of Long Beach's Operation School
