Operation Hug Chairman Keri Forster (far right), Chelsea Chrisman, and Elizabeth Young present bears to Long Beach Fire Department Captain Randy Grimm (3rd from right) and his Fire Station #17 crew. The pink hearts on the bears' ears say We Care, Please Share and informs the children who receive them on how to tell their personal stories. LBFD personnel give the bears to comfort children in times of trauma.

Operation Hug and New Life Beginnings are programs conducted by Assisteens, a high school aged auxiliary, where 420 children and adults were helped.  Operation Hug, in partnership with the Long Beach Fire Department, provides teddy bears to children in trauma.  Assisteens brighten the residents of New Life Beginnings, a shelter for homeless mothers and their children, by hosting parties and providing monthly donations of essential items.  Assisteens also conduct the Adopt-a-Family program, where selected families are supported at the holidays with food and gifts.
